ABSTRACT:Title: ‘’Are you really a brain-friendly teacher?’’Building positive relationships with students is fundamental to creating an environment where learning is efficient. These relationships are nurtured through the thoughtful use of language, which can empower students and foster a sense of trust, respect, and collaboration. The right language, characterized by clarity, encouragement, and inclusivity, can affirm students’ abilities and inspire confidence in their learning journey.Have you ever thought how crucial permissive and suggestive language are in this process? Permissive language, offering students choices and autonomy, encourages ownership of their learning, while suggestive language guides them toward deeper understanding and self-reflection. Rather than dictating answers, this approach cultivates curiosity and promotes critical thinking. In this session, we will focus on using the right language and asking the right questions as a powerful strategy for engaging students. Thought-provoking learning environments enables students to explore their ideas and arrive at their own conclusions. This approach not only enhances problem-solving skills but also reinforces a sense of agency and self-efficacy. By fostering positive relationships through supportive language and strategic questioning, educators create a dynamic and respectful brain-friendly learning atmosphere. This approach not only enhances academic success but also equips students with the confidence and independence necessary for lifelong learning.
