ABSTRACT:
What does it mean to be an autonomous learner or a successful individual in today’s digital world? The 21st century requires different skills, abilities, and learning dispositions. To prepare our students for the rapidly changing global environment, essential skills in innovation, digital literacy, and career and life skills—known as 21st century skills—have become key qualities in education over the last couple of decades. This workshop aims to examine some of the key aspects of these skills and exemplify them with age-appropriate tasks for deeper learning, problem solving, analytic reasoning, and teamwork through games and gamified activities in the context of English Language Teaching (ELT), addressing the basic needs of Turkish language learners at the K-12 level.
