ABSTRACT:
Storytelling is beyond the classroom. It’s an inseparable part of communication, and it’s part of our lives no matter where we come from. Stories are great sources to teach empathy, critical thinking, and cultural awareness. They create a bond between people by showing that we all have hopes, fears, ups and downs in life. In this workshop, we will have a look at some stories from other cultures and focus on ways to integrate them in the EFL classroom. Also, we will go through some hands-on activities that help our learners improve their cultural knowledge and smart reading strategies such as questioning, reflecting, and commenting. The workshop will benefit both new and experienced teachers.
